Modern vehicles are equipped with their own on-board diagnostic monitoring systems. These identify and record many faults, even intermittent ones, in the ignition and injection systems to make servicing and fault finding very easy. In use, codes are output by the vehicle computer as a series of pulses. The user counts the pulses and refers to the comprehensive list of codes, causes and remedies enclosed to identify and cure faults which may otherwise take a long time, or be impossible to find. Use in three easy steps - 1 plug into the diagnostic socket on the car, 2 Switch on and read off the code, 3 Look up the code and its meaning in the instructions supplied.
